Sony HDR-AX2000 Unboxing / First Look
In this video I am unboxing my new HD video camera, the Sony HDR-AX2000. As well as my new shotgun mic, the Azden SGM-X1 super cardioid shotgun condenser mic. I purchased this one after months of extensive research, and comparing prices vs features. And the AX-2000 has everything I was looking for. AVCHD codec, SDHC, full controls over audio and video, XLR inputs, headphone inputs, and great imagery.

Camera Showdown – iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3Gs
One of the most exciting features I was looking forward to in getting the iPhone 3Gs was the improved camera. I’m talking still photography here, peeps! Well talk about the video recording capabilities later.
For me, the increase from 2.1 to 3.2MP wasn’t what made me fall in love with the 3Gs camera, its the cameras selectable auto-focus and it’s ability to take macro shots.
Since I have had my 3G, I have on many occasions needed to take a close up or macro photo, and simply couldn’t. As a field service specialist who works for a major telco, we install a lot of HSIS, and I have found myself on many occasions without a pen, or without a working pen, when needing to record a serial number. Having the ability to take a picture of the serial, would have made my life MUCH easier.
Now that I have a 3Gs, I am in heaven as I can now get in close when I need it, and that to me both professionally, and personally, is huge.
Below are a series of photos I took, with both phones. All images were taken in the same room, under the same lighting and the same focal distance.

As you can clearly see (no pun intended), the images are much clearer with the 3Gs.
